This voco Makkah hotel guide covers what matters before you book. voco Makkah by IHG stands on Ibrahim Al Khalil Street in Al Mesfalah, about 1.6 km on foot from the Kaaba, with a complimentary 24-hour air-conditioned shuttle to the Haram through Kudai Parking. With 4,321 rooms across 35 floors it is one of the largest hotels in the city, and it is built around pilgrim families: Deluxe Rooms with up to four single beds, Grand Rooms that sleep up to seven, three buffet restaurants and a café, separate prayer areas for men and women, a supervised kids club and direct lobby access to a shopping mall.
Every figure on this page comes from IHG’s own voco Makkah pages or from Google Maps, checked in October 2026: the walk and the shuttle to the Haram, each room layout, the four buffet restaurants, parking charges, prayer facilities, policies, and the questions worth settling before you pay.
Rates move with the season, so nothing here is published as a fixed nightly price. Send your dates and we will quote the exact room, meals, taxes and transport in writing.
The quick facts most pilgrims from Pakistan ask before they commit. voco Makkah is one of the largest hotels in the city — 4,321 rooms over 35 floors — but availability must still be checked for your travel dates and room category.

IHG does not publish floor areas, room views or a star rating for this property, so this guide does not quote any. Anything your booking depends on should be confirmed in writing for your travel dates.
Google Maps routes the walk from the Kaaba to the hotel entrance at about 1.6 km, roughly 21 minutes, mostly flat and almost entirely along Ibrahim Al Khalil Road. That is a comfortable walk for a fit adult outside peak hours and a long one for an elderly parent after Isha, which is exactly why the hotel runs a free round-the-clock shuttle through Kudai.
The 1.6 km figure is the mapped street route from the Kaaba to the hotel door. Your real journey starts inside the mosque, so lifts, the gate in use, security checks and crowd control all add time. Treat 21 minutes as the walk, not the whole trip, and plan on the shuttle for Fajr and after Isha.
Travelling with a wheelchair or an elderly parent? IHG lists ADA-compliant rooms, lifts to all levels, ramps into the property and a drop-off point beside the entrance. Ask us to confirm the accessible room and the shuttle boarding point before you pay, because the walk from the Kudai drop-off to the Haram courtyard is the part that tires people out.
Al Mesfalah puts you on the Haram side of the city without paying Clock Tower prices, with the mall, the buffets and the shuttle stop all inside the building. Compare it against our wider Makkah hotel collection if you would rather be closer and pay more, or read our guide to the best areas to stay in Makkah.
Settle these five before you pay a deposit on any Makkah hotel, this one included.
| Decision | Question to ask |
|---|---|
| Shuttle | How often does the Haram shuttle run at Fajr, and where does it drop you? |
| Beds | How many real beds does your group need, and will the hotel allow that many guests in one room? |
| Meals | Is breakfast included in the quote, and are the children charged? |
| Season | Are you travelling in Ramadan or Hajj, when the shuttle is limited and prices change? |
| Total cost | What do identical dates cost once meals, taxes, parking and transfers are added? |
IHG lists three categories at voco Makkah and publishes bed setups rather than floor areas. The “sleeps” figures below come from those published beds, not from permitted occupancy, which must be confirmed on your booking. Each card has its own WhatsApp button, and the room name is filled into the message for you.
Size on request · sleeps 2–4
The standard category, and the most adaptable: IHG lists it with one king bed or with two, three or four single beds, so it works for a couple, for two friends or for a small family in one room. IHG publishes no floor area for this hotel, so ask us to confirm the exact layout and bed setup on the written quotation. One IHG photo caption notes that four-bed rooms are smoking rooms, which is worth confirming if that matters to you.

This is why many Pakistani families choose voco Makkah. IHG lists Grand Rooms with five or seven single beds and states they accommodate up to seven guests, so a family that would need two or three rooms at a central hotel can stay together in one. Confirm the permitted occupancy, the children’s ages and any extra charge in writing before you pay — a bed count is not the same as the occupancy the hotel will allow.

A king bedroom with a living room you can sit in without disturbing anyone who is resting, which suits a couple travelling with an elderly parent or anyone staying ten nights or more. Cribs are available on request. Ask whether the quoted suite includes a sofa bed before you count it as an extra berth.

No room category at voco Makkah is sold with a published view, and at 1.6 km from the Kaaba you should not expect one. What varies here is the bed layout, and that is the thing to pin down in writing before you pay.
IHG publishes bed configurations for this hotel but no square metres. Ask for the layout by name — “Deluxe, three single beds” — rather than a size.
A Grand Room lists seven beds, but the number the hotel will register is set by the rate you book. Get the permitted occupancy written on the voucher.
An IHG caption marks four-bed rooms as smoking. If anyone in your group is asthmatic or travelling with an infant, confirm a non-smoking room in writing.
If your group needs more than seven beds, compare one Grand Room plus one Deluxe Room against two Deluxe Rooms for the same dates. The first usually costs less per person and keeps everyone on one floor; the second gives you two bathrooms.
voco Makkah is built for pilgrims rather than for leisure, which explains both what it has and what it does not. Everything below is listed on IHG’s current pages; hours and access rules change, so confirm anything your trip depends on.
Four venues sit inside the hotel and a fifth in the connected mall, which matters more than it sounds: a family of seven can eat together without leaving the building between prayers. All list a casual dress code.
| Venue | Listed hours | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Al Karam (2nd floor) | Breakfast 6:30–10:30 AM | International buffet serving breakfast, lunch and dinner |
| Telal (3rd floor) | Breakfast 6:30–10:30 AM | International buffet with traditional and contemporary dishes |
| Bakkah (4th floor) | Breakfast 6:30–10:30 AM | International buffet built around locally sourced, seasonal dishes |
| Ma’ad Café and Lounge | Round the clock | Barista coffee, afternoon tea, fresh juices, sandwiches and desserts on the lower ground floor |
| Ma’ad Eats and Treats (connected mall) | Mall hours | Shawarma, burgers, pizza, biryani, mandi, tandoori and kabsa in the connected mall |
| In-room dining | 24 hours | Full menu with kid-friendly options and private in-room dinner packages |
Kids eat free at voco Makkah, which changes the arithmetic for a family of five or six — ask us to confirm the age limit and which venues it covers for your dates. Breakfast is not automatically part of every rate, so compare room-only and breakfast-included quotations for the same dates and guest count. Two practical notes: breakfast across all three buffets ends at 10:30 AM, so a late sleeper after Tahajjud should plan for in-room dining instead, and any allergy, diabetic or medical diet should be confirmed in writing rather than assumed at the buffet.

Most Pakistani pilgrims land at Jeddah and drive in. IHG lists no airport shuttle at voco Makkah, so the transfer has to be arranged and priced separately — put it on the same quotation as the room so there are no surprises at 2 AM.
Confirm before you pay: the shuttle timetable for your dates, the Kudai boarding point, how the service changes in Ramadan and Hajj, and who is meeting you at Jeddah. One IHG page describes the complimentary 24-hour Haram shuttle in detail while a generic FAQ on the same site says no complimentary local-area shuttle is offered, so have it written into your booking rather than assumed. If you are travelling with an elderly parent or a wheelchair, ask us to confirm the drop-off point and the walking distance from it before you commit.
Flights from Pakistan often land in Jeddah early in the morning, and check-in here is from 3:00 PM. Immigration, luggage and the drive absorb part of that wait, but they do not guarantee a room on arrival. Ask whether early check-in can be confirmed and what it costs; if immediate room access matters for a child or an older traveller, compare the price of booking the previous night. The useful thing about this address is that you do not have to sit in the lobby: leave the bags with the concierge, take the shuttle or walk the 1.6 km, perform your first Umrah and come back when the room is ready. Check-out is 12:00 PM unless the hotel confirms otherwise, so arrange luggage storage and the return transfer if your flight home leaves late in the evening.
There is no honest fixed nightly price for voco Makkah. What you pay changes with the dates, the room category, the number of guests, the meal plan, the cancellation terms, taxes and availability — and Ramadan, the last ten nights and Hajj change both the rate and the minimum-stay rules. For live availability and current room options see our voco Makkah by IHG booking page. For a written quotation in PKR that includes meals, taxes and transfers, send us your dates and we will price your exact stay.

IHG lists wheelchair-accessible rooms at voco Makkah with ADA-compliant access routes, bathrooms with ample turning space, a tub with grab bars and a portable bath seat, a handheld shower on a hose, bathroom handrails and a shower safety bar. In the public areas there is a flat path from the car park to the entrance, a drop-off point beside the door, curb cuts, ten accessible parking bays, ramps into the property, the lounge and the restaurant, ADA-compliant lifts to every floor, wheelchairs available on request, accessible public restrooms and accessible restaurant seating. IHG does not publish how many accessible rooms the hotel has, so we confirm one for your dates rather than assume.
Guest reviews for voco Makkah are useful for spotting patterns and useless as a guarantee of the room you will be given. Read the date, the room category and the season on each one: a review written in the last ten nights of Ramadan describes a different hotel operation from one written in a quiet month. Where room condition or a specific layout matters to you, ask us for current photographs of that exact category instead of relying on a gallery image or an opinion posted two years ago.
How to compare your options. Compare voco with a Haram-front hotel when frequent returns to the room matter. Compare Makkah Al Aziziah when a transport-led stay is acceptable. Use the same dates, guest count, meals, taxes and refund conditions; no hotel is assumed to be cheapest. Check our voco Makkah booking page or request a dated written quotation.
The guide lists 4,321 rooms across 35 floors. A large inventory does not guarantee availability; request confirmation of the category for your travel dates.
Allow extra time beyond the mapped walk for shuttle queues, crowd controls and entry through the gate in use. Ask the hotel about the current Friday timetable and leave early enough for your party’s pace; a fixed journey time cannot be guaranteed.
It can suit a first visit when your party is comfortable using the hotel shuttle and understands the final walk from its drop-off. If returning to the room between every prayer is essential, compare a closer hotel before deciding.
